Judges, because the general populous are whores who will vote for someone because they tell them to. I have seen many a nondeserving entry win due to someone saying "Vote for me my masses!"

Go with judges because of the exact reason the 2 people above me mentioned. It really seemed to me like the votes have rather been a popularularity contest. On a second note, shoudln't the entry win that you like most and not the others? o_O

Perhaps a combination of both would be for the best. How about this, there will be judges, but everyone can vote. Along with the judge(s) vote the public votes will add up to the equivilant of a judge vote. Like this:

Judge #1-voted for submission 3
Judge #2-sub. 4
Public poll-sub. 4

Winner: Submission 4

Something like this or something similar.

Personally I prefer judges, voting's too open to cheats who just get anyone and everyone voting from them without even looking at the other entries. It usually ends up as more of a popularity contest than an art one.

I did use a hybrid system on my contest for a while. I'd choose the top ten entries and then put them up for a vote. At least this way you can control the quality of the final selection.

I have a feeling a lot of people saying "vote" are folks who just want to see the results; everyone who's actually commented has said judges, and that's what I'm going to go with.
